What is CBD Oil and Why Should You Use It?

Updated: Jun 6, 2019

You hear about CBD everywhere, but what is the all the talk about? Well, do you have difficulty with sleeping, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, inflammation, and other issues? If so, give CBD a try.

CBD is a naturally occurring compound found predominately in the flower of cannabis, a plant with a history as a medicine going back thousands of years. Currently the therapeutic properties of CBD are under investigation by scientists and doctors all around the world.

CBD has been found to be a safe, non-addictive substance with therapeutic uses and is highly sought after because it has an ability to heal without getting a person high.

There are so many misconceptions and confusion surrounding Marijuana and Hemp. Simply, it's all Cannabis Sativa L. (botanical family name) and it's all Medical Marijuana. Recreational Cannabis includes all plants with THC above .3%, and Hemp is less than .3% THC. The term 'Marijuana' is rarely used any more, with the exception of 'Medical Marijuana" because it was invented to vilify Hispanics, so we call it cannabis, pot, weed, ganga, etc.

In June of 2018, the FDA recognized cannabidiol as real and approved the drug Epidiolex (a CDB formula that treats Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome). As a result, the drug was removed by the DEA from the dangerous classification of Schedule 1 to a Schedule V classification which is the least dangerous classification under the Controlled Substances Act.

Epidolex however comes with a heavy price tag of more than $30,000 annually. There are numerous internet stores, markets, shops, boutiques, and cannabis dispensaries in states that have legalized the plant for therapeutic use. Plenty of these places sell quality CBD products that are manufactured with little regulatory oversight and these products are comparable to Epidiolex. People are searching for alternatives to pharmaceuticals which have harsh side effects and CBD oil is one of those alternatives

sought.

As stated in CBD International...

Extensive scientific research - much of it sponsored by the U.S. government - and mounting anecdotal accounts from patients and physicians highlight CBD’s potential as a treatment for a wide range of maladies, including (but not limited to):

ECs (endocannabinoids) are naturally made in the human body and help with our mood, energy level, endurance, how we experience pain, sleep, our immune system, blood pressure, bone density, glucose metabolism, hunger, and more. “Science has shown that the endocannabinoid system is dysregulated in nearly all pathological conditions” (CBD International). All of this means that regulating the endocannabinoid system has the potential to be therapeutic and CBD oil has been proven to do just that. https://medium.com/cbd-origin/cbd-vs-thc-the-difference-explained-b3cfc1da52f0
